Excerpts
For those of you not on the mailing list for Little, Brown’s Young Readers book catalog, here are two pages dramatically ripped from the Spring/Summer 2013 edition, forced face down on a scanner (when all they really, really, wanted to do was scan their own butts) and then Photoshopped to get rid of the ring left by my coffee mug and the crumbs of my morning bagel.
The thrilling excerpt from What We Found in the Sofa has been slightly edited. The many paragraphs in which I reminisce about how the taste of madeleine cakes reminds me of many things from my youth are just GONE, no explanation whatsoever. Go figure.
And since this section of the site is called EXCERPTS, I’ve included a second sampling of the book immediately after the first, to justify the plural.
